All that we are is story - it’s what we arrive with and all that we leave behind.

Jen Nicholson,

MSW

I have lived in the Muskoka area for about 20 years. The local community, land and waters feel like home to me.

I love the work I do. I feel I am constantly learning the skill and art of psychotherapy. My greatest teachers are the people / clients I have the honour to work with. I am also guided and informed by other clinicians, supervision, formal training, reading and networking.

When I am not working, I tend to be with my teenage children or active outside paddling, skiing, running or biking. Simply taking in a mindfulness moment is where the soul settles.

A Little Bit About Me…

Photography.

I love capturing mood, meaning and experiences through photography - nothing too high tech - just simple everyday moments caught on my phone camera - all the pictures on this website are local pictures I took.

Spirituality.

Respecting all faiths and spiritual journeys / practices - I recognize that for many of us, matters of the spiritual / faith world are integral parts of our healing and meaning making.

Embodied Living.

Walking, paddling, swimming, dancing, running, arts, yoga... the list goes on. I know that talk therapy has its place and role - and yet the body therapies are where so much is released, soothed, healed and realized.

“Therapists are not experts on your life... Their expertise is in creating the ‘container’ or experience in which you can discover your truth.”

“Growth requires us to leave something behind. It can be our habits, beliefs, careers, mindset and even people... This is why making space for grief in the midst of growth is important. You will mourn your former life to make space for a newer one.”
